How AWP Transformed an Operating Facility

O3 Case Study

Learn how AWP transformed an Operating Facility below:

Overview:

O3 Solutions partnered with an owner of a sulfur refining capital expansion brownfield project in Singapore to digitize and automate their work packaging processes.

Challenges:
operating facility challenges
The project had multiple contractors that were using disparate spreadsheets to manage work packages, print pdfs, and other manual tools to manage work packages and identify constraints. Each contractor had his own system and format and would only share updates with the owner periodically.

Solution

The solution to this widespread problem was to begin digitizing the work package management process by using O3’s ONBuild software solution. It is purpose-built for Workface planning on the job site and automates the manual processes of using Excell spreadsheets and printed pdfs. ONBuild allowed multiple contractors to identify constraints on one single platform. This gave the owners, the EPC firm, and the contractors the ability to collaborate in real-time. Some of the highlights included:

Owner visibility dashboards

Installation work package management

Approvals and workflows (owner, due date, priority)

Delay and RFI tracking

Rules of credit, progressing, earned value tracking

Lookahead reporting

Constraint management

Task management across stakeholders

Results:

By digitizing the manual processes, the owner gained unprecedented visibility into the project. ONBuild provided real-time access to reporting on work package status and open constraints across all contractors.

One single data repository gave each company a segmented view of their specific work packages and constraints to identify and allow them to mitigate any potential issues.

Using software allowed the owner to have a historical record of the project’s status changes and approvals by company and user.

ONBuild created a standard process across contractors for work package creation and constraints ensuring consistency and data quality.

The project-level dashboards provided better collaboration among stakeholders because it generated one view of construction progress for everyone.
