The Challenge: 

A large fabrication yard struggled implementing a true AWP process with manual tools and reconciling data with the EPC’s in-house AWP solution (O3). The EPC was faced with competing data “stories” and ever-changing spreadsheets with limited accuracy.

The manual method to track package progression was unreliable and did not provide the EPC with enough data. The yard became overwhelmed reconciling the project demands with the new AWP process, resulting in schedule slip & cost overruns.

The Solution: ONBuild with Graphical Work Packaging

The mod yard personnel started by importing current work package data into O3 so stakeholders could clearly see status & progress of each package from a central dashboard. Users began building structural & pipe packages directly from the model in O3, and incorporated constraint management for more accountability. Weekly meetings gained momentum now that stakeholders can “drill down” into package details to understand data gaps & workflow restrictions.
