PMO MANAGER

Position Purpose

The responsibilities of the PMO Manager include managing the day-to-day activities in the PMO, providing guidance on PMO policies and processes, overseeing project management staff, and collaborating with other department leaders to develop projects and programs.

To be successful as a PMO Manager, you should demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills. Ultimately, a top-notch PMO Manager should be well organized and able to work under pressure.

The Project Management team is responsible for the management of multiple ongoing client projects, daily client interaction, custom deliverables, timeline and critical task management, coordination across multiple groups and resources, and resolving project-related issues.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Actively engage with new business scoping & estimating activities, including providing resource estimates & capacity management oversight.
  • Support the scoping of projects by providing project resource estimates that represent the level of effort required to support the projects/initiatives.
  • Manage team allocation by ensuring that each associate has a manageable workload and reallocating resources as needed.
  • Actively engage as a member of the new business pursuit teams by partnering with the Sales organization in RFP response creation, presentations, etc.
  • Work closely with other team members on various projects and initiatives.
  • Develop relationships across the organization and listen to the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Cultivate open communication with customers, and business partners in an effort to identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Establish clearly defined goals, objectives, responsibilities, competencies, and development plans for each member of the team.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Ensure team members are appropriately trained to handle daily activities.
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback through one-on-one meetings, staff meetings, and other communication as appropriate.
  • Manage relationships with senior client contacts and other leadership team members to provide recommendations and oversight to large client implementations.
  • Provide leadership to multiple implementations and facilitate the cross-project/cross-functional team to develop and implement solutions to address our client’s requirements.

Knowledge & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Administration, or a related field
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification may be advantageous
  • A minimum of five years experience in software implementations
  • A minimum of two years experience in a supervisory position
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and technical skills
  • Good interpersonal and multi-tasking skills
  • Customer-facing implementation experience, including working with C-suite-level contacts
  • MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel up to 15% (Customer Kick-Offs, vital onsite meetings, etc.)
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment with deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support overseas projects, as needed
