Celebrating International Women’s Day and Women In Construction
March 8 marks International Women’s Day. This global day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. International Women’s Day comes on the heels of Women in Construction week (March 1-7) which celebrates the achievements of women in the construction industry.
International Women’s Day (IWD) has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific. #IWD2020#EachforEqual
O3 Solutions is celebrating both #IWD2020 and #WIC by highlighting some of our own powerful women making an impact on the industrial construction industry and making the world a better place for all.

Currently, the construction industry is only 1.5% female. Women’s equality is a human rights issue that should be championed and supported by all and not just a group or organization. Knowing facts and statistics about women in the workforce – and specifically construction – is important to the advancement of women in the industry.
Total Workers in Construction ………………………………. 10,692,000
Men in Construction …………………………………………………..9,721,000
Women in Construction ………………………………………………. 971,000
But there’s good news. While women in the U.S. earn on average 81.1 percent of what men make, the gender pay gap is significantly smaller in construction occupations, with women earning on average 99.1 percent of what men make.
