The WorkFace Planner’s Role Is Changing Dramatically

Technology is making life easier for the WorkFace planner

WorkFace Planners are accustomed to using manual processes and tools to creak work packages. This can range from spreadsheets in excel docs to sticky notes left on a desk. These manual processes introduce a host of obvious issues. They are not managed or reported on in real-time and present the opportunity for human error. This makes the job of a WorkFace Planner very difficult when it comes to truly managing work packages.

The good news is that there is a solution to the long-standing tradition of spreadsheets and other manual processes. Through O3, WorkFace Planners management of work packages is enabled through better processes. Our software consists of configuration, automation, visualization and standardization for work packaging.

Configuration

Varying workflows are necessary depending on the client, project or contractor. Therefore, configuration is vital to supporting these different flows. O3 is built to support an unlimited amount of configuration options for specific projects. Our clients range from wanting to ensure that users follow a strict and detailed process to clients wanting to leave it wide open to allow for maximum efficiency and flexibility. O3 supports both of these approaches and everything in between.

Because O3 is built on AWP Best Practices our software ensures that a WorkFace Planners workflow in O3 aligns with the business while also maintain the best practices. Configurations give WorkFace Planners a peace of mind knowing that no steps in work package development will be missed.

Automation

The key piece to technology making life much easier on the WorkFace Planner is automation. Automation takes the manual effort off managing work by cutting down time. By automating constraints and approvals it’s relieved the WorkFace Planner of time consuming administrative work. A few automations in O3 include status, constraints, approvals, data and progressing.

Visualization

Through visibility WorkFace Planners are able to see their work with more accurate planning, meaningful meetings and proper resourcing. This provides more accuracy when teams meet to discuss topics and progress. The technology making this possible in O3 can be used in a variety of ways. O3 offers several views based on user preference including Gantt view, goal view, “my view”, and custom label view.

Standardization

Without standardization a WorkFace Planner would run into a multitude of challenges. O3 takes starting and running a project from difficult to easy through standardization. Our software platform has project templates, default dashboards, shared layouts and shared dashboards to make standardization simple and easy. We understand the value in using standardization for beginning a new project. That’s why we’ve cut down on the project admin burden through templates. Templates allow users to quickly use default settings and apply to a new project. But we also know that one size does not fit all, which is why our clients set up a few different templates for different projects based on scope and size.

The role of the WorkFace Planner is evolving to incorporate more modern tools and technology to make work easier and more accurate. O3 has the solutions to help achieve success on the foundation of Advanced Work Packaging. Through the use of the right tool administrative burdens can be lifted and focus can be spent on maximizing success of the overall project at hand.
